The results are in (meagre as they are). I am going with w.bloggar for now - I’ve been testing it out and so far it works with my Wordpress blogs and my Typepad blogs. I’m now guest blogging for Darren Rowse over at his SEOBlog and Camera Phone blog while he’s away on holidays, so tomorrow I’ll test w.bloggar with Movable Type. I don’t foresee myself moving to a Moveable Type platform anytime in the near future, though, so tomorrow’s test won’t make or break this particular deal.

After using all three tools (BlogJet, ecto and w.bloggar), I have to say I’m pretty pleased with w.bloggar. It’s freeware (but donations are welcome), and it works as well as both BlogJet and ecto. I don’t normally post a lot of pictures, so I haven’t been able to test that particular component.

But really, if I had my way, the ideal desktop blogging tool would be a combination of all three apps. It’s funny, but there’s something I like a lot about each one that the others don’t have. In the long run, I won’t be surprised if I end up also buying BlogJet and ecto (as long as they work with the newest version of Wordpress, which I’m not using yet.)
