Darren Rowse is back from his holidays so I’m finishing up my guest blogging on his SEO site. I’m hoping I can stay on at the Camera Review site, though. Strange as it sounds, I actually had fun with that blog, and it gave me a discipline that is sometimes lacking in my regular blogging routine.

I’d say that overall, that was the main benefit for me of blogging for Darren. Well, okay, the links back to my site don’t hurt either. But I can safely say that I’ve never had a more productive month online than this past month, and I think it has a lot to do with being a guest blogger for someone else. I was definitely more disciplined about making regular posts to Darren’s blogs, and once I started posting, the old “one-thing-lead-to-another” factor clicked in, and I would start working away at things.

It was nice to have the opportunity to get the feel for the Moveable Type platform, too, although now that I’ve experienced it I’d have to say I definitely prefer Wordpress. I also rather like Typepad, but I actually find working with the WYSIWYG editor more difficult. I like the Wordpress combination of regular editor plus Quicktags for inserting links and other common commands.

I still have a ton of things on my to-do list, though. I’d like to start on a network of blogs all under one domain and see how that goes. The appeal is the ease of setting up new niche blogs by simply creating a new folder. The downside is that everything is then under one domain. But I figure it will be okay, since I also have a lot of other blogs that are off on their own, or are part of other sites. It will be nice to test-drive this idea and play around with it a bit more.
