Turning Down Work, Template Woes and Nanowrimo
I managed to get through all those October deadlines … only to take a good long look at my calendar and realizing I am booked into January.
I turned down two new assignments yesterday and one today, and just checked my voice messages only to find another one that I probably won’t be able to squeeze into December.
I really hate turning down work. I go through a slower period in the spring and summer and it makes me want to say yes to every job that comes up. I guess October was good for me - it reminded me WHY I need to turn down the work.
I managed to squeeze in some time to spend on a few of my sites that have been waiting patiently for me to stick them online so they can “go live”. (When my sites go live, there’s no celebration, no rah rah rah, which might explain why they’re always so patient.)
But really, the bulk of that time was spent in template woes. The sites are all blogs, and in one case, I ended up having to delete the entire domain off my server because for some reason, I just couldn’t get Wordpress to install right, and I couldn’t get rid of a folder which prevented me from reinstalling Wordpress.
One of the templates (although it wasn’t giving me quite the same woeful feeling) is the one that’s inspired by my Nanowrimo novel - which, I might add, I haven’t actually started yet. So it’s day two and I’m already 3400 words behind. Doesn’t bode well. But I’m hoping once I get the site live, I’ll be driven to writing down something, if only to be able to post in the Nanowrimo section on the new site that, yes, I’ve written something.

I know what you mean about turning down work, I just hate having to tell people no…but it’s also important to realize our own individual goals as well. Very tough indeed.
As for NaNoWriMo - for shame BJ
- just kidding. Last year I didn’t even start, at all, so don’t feel too bad if you get a late start. So far, you already seem to be one step ahead of me because I don’t even have a design for the blog yet, much less installed WordPress…
btw, thank you for the warm thoughts, they are most appreciated. It’s nice to know someone out there cards :D.

You’re back online!! I’m so glad.
Okay, I do feel better now, knowing you didn’t even start Nanowrimo last year …
