Gifts from Blogging and Intentions
Blogging Pro asks, What has blogging given me? and I feel like playing (it’s been quite a wonderful day around here so some heart-felt appreciation is definitely what I’m feeling right now.)
Here are some of the gifts that blogging has given me:
- some truly wonderful and incredible friendships. I met Chrissie, Teli and Gail because of my blogging, and their friendships have enriched my life immensely. Chrissie, Teli and I also share other interests and it’s been wonderful being able to ramble on with both of them about online stuff and some offline stuff that’s pretty important to all of us.
- the opportunity to work with Darren Rowse. I’m pretty excited actually because I’ll have the chance to finally meet Darren in person while he’s here in Toronto over the next little while. And I suspect that when I write about it, the post will begin something along the lines of “Darren Rowse is as nice in person as he is online …”
- finding my writing voice again. Of course, I didn’t do that with my “clip and short discussion” blogging, but I have a few blogs that are very much “me” and it’s been a thrill to find my writing voice again - the writing voice that I use for me, not for an editor or a publisher.
- and of course, all the “stuff”. There’s the camera phone offer that came at too chaotic time in my life so I wasn’t able to take advantage of it. Tickets to seminars, workshops and events. Books, books and more books. Lots of computer and video games. Downloadable goodies including ebooks, software and Excel spreadsheets. Lots of stuff, and more stuff.
And then a little twist, because I’ve really been feeling the power of setting my intentions lately. I haven’t actually started focusing on any intentions related to blogging yet, so there’s no time like now.
Here are my intentions for my blogging:
- write content that inspires and uplifts and keeps people coming back for more. I see myself headed in this direction with the new blogs I’ve been working on, and it’s been pretty inspiring.
- experience many more wonderful opportunities. I’ve been very blessed when it comes to blogging - I’ve had doors open for me, met lots of new people and come across various great opportunies. And I am ready and open to lots more of them.
- be a step towards that NY Times bestseller. Yep. I’m finally owning up to this intention. I love writing and I want to be a famous writer.
- live an abundant life. I fully expect blogging to play a big role in this intention, although I see abundance coming my way in lots of different ways.
- be a guest on Oprah. Hey, I believe in dreaming BIG, intentions included.
- live a fabulous, joy-filled life. I really do already have this kind of life but I’m certainly open to more.
This was definitely a fun post to write! I love the gifts I’ve received because of blogging, and it feels good to set my intentions. Anyone else want to play?

Good for you! Blogging is a great way to meet new people and find yourself. Your intentions certainly are ambitious, like being on Oprah, but dreams are a wonderful thing to have. We all have the potential to achieve them. I say rock on!

You go for those intentions. Don’t try too hard. Just keep them in front of you, knowing they’ll happen and one day they will.
